Hot Day

It was a really hot day in “steamy” Arizona. And where was I? Walking and talking to a dear friend absorbed in conversation. I must have looked ready to kill over but my conversation overpowered the heat. That’s when I noticed my mailman turning his mail truck around driving my way. He stopped in front of me and handed me a cold bottle of water. I am the one who has given out water to our mail carriers for years and now he’s handing me a bottle? I was touched beyond words. I never knew how much those bottles meant to another until that day.

This act of kindness…

MADE MY DAY.

Another hot day, I needed to pick up medication for an upcoming procedure. When I got to the front of the pharmacy line to my dismay the medication was over $100—for some reason my insurance didn’t cover it. I said, “Oh well, I guess I’ll just pay for it” and reached for my credit card. The technician said, “Just wait,” and he went in the back. Then the pharmacist appeared and said they’d call my doctor and get the medication switched to one that my insurance covers. Once that medication was in it cost me $00.00. It went from over $100 to nothing, all because of the kindness of two strangers.

This act of kindness…

MADE MY DAY.

Little things can make someone’s day. A smile. Holding a door. Listening. A handwritten card. A timely encouraging word. Doing something that can help another just because you can.

Go and make someone’s day today…

It just might make your day as well.

Kind people are happy people.

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interest of the others.”

– Philippians 2:3-4
