Christmas Fruitcake

I love fruitcake. You either love it or hate it. I love it. My family hates it. The whole family. There is not one person in my family who likes fruitcake.

This year I made myself a homemade fruitcake. I found all the ingrediencies online and eagerly waited for the “fruit” in the fruitcake ingrediencies to arrive. Once they did I took an afternoon and baked myself a fruitcake.

Just for me.

Yes, amidst the…

Shopping,

Christmas festivities,

Family in town,

Watching our one-year-old grandson for a week,

And Holiday hustle and bustle…

I baked a fruitcake.

Just for me.

Indulgent?

You might be thinking that the idea of doing something for yourself during this time of year is frivolous. I mean, who’s got time to think of themselves, right?

If we don’t sit back and enjoy this time, it will fly by and we’ll be left feeling more depleted than before it started.

May I propose that you take time for you this season? May I propose that you do something you love, just for you, just because…

You deserve it.

Stop right now and think about something you’d love to do, just for you. It’s okay to give yourself a gift this year. Give yourself the gift of taking care of you and doing something you love.

And He [Jesus] said to him, “’YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’” This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’

-Matthew 22:37-39

It’s okay to love yourself.

Immerse yourself in the Christmas season, be present, take time for things you love, and show this love to others.

  1. I agree! I never did that when I was younger, but I’ve worked hard, have served the Lord to the best of my ability and will continue to do so until I die!! But, I’m starting to do things I like and enjoy for me . . . and I’m enjoying it!
    Thanks Lou for sharing!!❤️
Merry Christmas to you and all your family!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
