What I Have NOW

“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

-Matthew 6:34

There is so much we do not know right now. Some of us may be struggling with fear, doubt, and loneliness. I decided to make a list of the things I have lost in this season of having to stay home.

What I Have Lost:

Going to restaurants. I really miss the environment of people eating food together. I love food and I love eating, so putting that together with someone you love ranks pretty high with me. But…I can drive through with a loved one, grab a bite, open the car windows, and enjoy together.

Hanging out at a coffee house. I love coffee. And I love a conversation over said coffee. Looking forward to doing that again, I will never take it for granted.

Visiting friends. I miss my friends. Don’t you?

Going to the church building to worship. Corporate worship is a gift and I miss it.

Parties. I’ve never liked parties but I might appreciate them more after this. Nah, maybe not.

Vacation. My husband and I had to cancel our vacation. But…this time feels like a long vacation.

Two book signings and speaking at a conference. Wah-wah.

What I Have NOW:

A hot shower. Many people around the world do not have hot running water. I saw a TV show where people poured cold water over themselves to get clean. Every day I feel the hot water I say, Thank You, Lord!

A warm bed next to a hunka hunka husband. Okay, he’s a grandpa now, but he’s still my hunka hunka man.

I set up walking dates with my friends. We both schedule a time, put ear buds in our ears, and take a walk “together.” She’s in her neighborhood and I’m in mine, but we feel like we are walking together.

Worship at home. It’s been a rich time worshiping in our living room each week with discussion after.

Enriched relationships. I’ve been having wonderful discussions with all of my family. We all have the time and it’s been such a blessing.

Working through marital issues. Hubby and I have had more time to work on us and work on ourselves. We’ll emerge stronger after this is over, more than if we’d gone on vacation.

No one knows what tomorrow will bring, but if we focus on today we can find rich blessings if we dig a bit deeper.

Be well, my friend!

As far as going deeper I’d like to invite you to “From Fizzle to Sizzle” an online web series where I’m one of the featured guests. It’s free and you can register HERE!

We can all use a little fun right now. Her husband is my favorite part of this video. Check it out, you might have a good laugh…
