Only One Thing to Be Thankful For

There once was a little girl who had a tremendous amount of fear and anxiety. She masked that fear with superficial confidence and outward apathy. This little girl had been told by her hero, her father, that this life was all there was. Dead meant, dead. Dead. Gone. Nothingness. Forever.

“Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher. “Everything is meaningless!” (Eccles. 12:8).

This young girl grew up with no hope. She tried to make sense of her world. She tried to make sense of her pain. She tried to find where she fit in. She tried to find love.

Life knocked her down over and over.

This young girl grew to become a woman, a fearful, confused, fretful woman, until one day, she met a man. This man loved her unconditionally. This man forgave her. This man offered her another way. This man showed her a life greater than the world.

This man died for her. This man died AND then, came back to life.

HE CAME BACK TO LIFE!

This man was God, Jesus Christ, in human flesh and he paved the way to eternal life, a life here on earth with meaning and purpose.

He only asked one thing of her: Turn from the life you now live and follow me. Give me your pain and sorrow. Give me your hopes and dreams. Give me your todays and your tomorrows.

Jesus says, Follow me and I will carry you and bring you home after you leave this life on earth. Click To Tweet

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

– Romans 10:9

She offered her life, her heart, her everything. And saved she was.

I promise you this story is real. I can promise you because it’s MY story. There is much uncertainty in this life, but of this one thing I am sure, Jesus died on a cross for me and for you, and he rose from the dead to provide the way of hope and life eternally with the Father.

And today, as in every day, I am thankful for Jesus. Jesus who saved me and gave me new life. Study his life, friend, and you will find he was no ordinary man. He loved, healed, forgave wrong, raised the dead, was raised from the dead, and paved the way to life eternal.

Do you know him? Have you experienced his love? Do you feel his presence? Do you hear his voice?

Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me” (John 10:27).

Jesus took all of my dreams and gave me something better, something way beyond any dream I could dream. He gave me beyond my dreams. “Now to Him wo is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us” (Eph. 3:30). I am thankful for the one who forgave me, accepted me, loved me, and saved me. At times, there is much that can be wrong and painful in life. Yes, sometimes life gets hard, and excessively painful, but that is when my God carries me through.

How about you?

No hope?

Floating aimlessly?

Yearning?

Trust your life to the Father who loves you more than anything in this life and beyond. “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith” (1 John 5:4).

What is most valuable to you? All you hold dear here will vanish at some point in time. Death does not pass over any person.

Only one question will matter when our time here is up…

Did you accept God’s free gift of life with him forever?

Where do you start?

  • Ask God to reveal himself to you.
  • Get a Bible and read it.
  • Find a Bible teaching church and go.
  • Talk to a friend who loves and follows Jesus.

Live in grace, be thankful, soak up and bask in love, and pour love out to others.

Fondly,

Lu
